This Privacy Policy explains how PDF Flip ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit www.pdf-flip.com, use our online flipbook tools and related services (collectively, the "Service"), or communicate with us. It should be read together with our Terms of Use, which describe the rules for using the Service.
By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect the following categories of information:
Account and profile information – such as your name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), organization name if you provide it, and preferences associated with your account.
Content and files – documents, images, PDFs, and other materials you upload or publish for conversion into flipbooks, including titles, descriptions, cover images, branding assets, and configuration you apply in the editor (for example templates, colors, passwords for protected publications, and optional analytics snippets you choose to embed).
Technical and usage data – such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring URLs, dates and times of access, pages or features used, and diagnostic or error logs. We use this data to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
Communications – the content of messages you send us (for example through contact forms or support email), and related metadata (such as your email address and time of contact).
Payment-related information – when you purchase a paid plan, our payment processors (such as Freemius) collect billing details and process transactions. We generally receive limited information (for example subscription status, plan, and transaction identifiers), not your full card number.
We do not require you to provide sensitive categories of data (such as health information) to use the Service; please do not upload such content unless you have a lawful basis to do so.
Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
Contract – processing necessary to provide the Service you request and to perform our agreement with you.
Legitimate interests – for example to secure the Service, prevent abuse, improve features, analyze aggregated usage in a way that does not override your rights, and communicate with you about similar services where permitted.
Legal obligation – where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
Consent – where we ask for your consent for a specific purpose (for example certain optional communications or non-essential cookies, if we use them and where required), you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
We use the information above to:
Create and manage accounts; authenticate users; provide customer support;
Convert, host, display, and distribute flipbooks and related features you enable (including embeds, sharing links, bookshelves, and password protection);
Maintain the security and integrity of the Service, detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Use, and respond to incidents;
Operate, analyze, and improve performance and reliability of the Service (including troubleshooting and product development);
Send transactional messages (such as account notices, security alerts, and billing receipts) and, where allowed, information about features or plans you may opt out of;
Comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, and establish or defend legal claims.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these situations:
Service providers – with vendors who host data, deliver content (such as CDN or storage), process payments, send email, provide security monitoring, or otherwise assist in operating the Service, bound by contractual obligations to use information only for defined purposes.
Publishers and viewers of flipbooks – flipbooks you publish may be visible to anyone you share links with or who visits embedded viewers. Information you choose to display (such as titles or contact links) will be seen by those audiences.
Legal and safety – when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of PDF Flip, our users, or others.
Business transfers – in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality arrangements.
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including countries that may have different data protection laws than your own. When applicable law requires safeguards for cross-border transfers (for example from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), we use measures that meet those requirements, which may include contractual protections approved by regulators. Contact us if you would like more information about transfers relevant to your data.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. For example, we keep account information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with tax or accounting obligations. Uploaded content is retained according to your subscription, account settings, and deletion actions until you remove it or close your account, subject to backup and legal retention windows. Aggregated or de-identified information may be retained without time limit.
We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures may include access controls, encryption in transit where appropriate, monitoring, and staff training. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to data portability; and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You may also have the right to opt out of certain types of sale or sharing of personal information where applicable state law provides that right.
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@pdf-flip.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request. If we deny a request, we will explain our reasons where required by law.
We use cookies and similar technologies where needed to operate the Service—for example, to keep you signed in to your account area, maintain security (such as session integrity), load the site efficiently, and remember certain preferences.
Our public marketing pages do not load third-party advertising or behavioral-analytics trackers as a default part of the site experience. If we introduce optional analytics or similar technologies that require consent under applicable law, we will describe them here and obtain consent where required.
Flipbooks published by our customers: Account holders may optionally add their own third-party scripts (for example Google Analytics) to publications they control. Those tools are chosen and managed by the publisher; they may collect information about visitors to that flipbook according to the publisher's privacy practices. PDF Flip does not control those scripts.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect sign-in or certain features.
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. When you purchase a subscription, you may interact with our payment partner's checkout; their collection and use of information is described in their privacy policy.
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by local law for valid consent without parental involvement). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in that age group. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it promptly.
We do not use solely automated decision-making, including profiling, that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where changes are material, provide additional notice when appropriate (for example by email or a notice in the Service). We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated policy, where permitted by law.
